  • David Beckham missed Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes‘ wedding because he was committed for a Real Madrid match on Saturday evening. David attended the pre-wedding party on Friday night in Rome with his wife Victoria Beckham but flew back to Madrid on Saturday morning. Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello is reportedly unimpressed with David’s celebrity lifestyle and when asked if David would have to miss the $2.5million wedding, Capello tartly replied: “That’s not my problem.”
  • Tom Cruise’s ex-wife Nicole Kidman didn’t get invited to Tom’s wedding to Katie Holmes yesterday but sent a £2,000 vase as a gift and a note wishing them “both a lifetime of happiness together.” As with Nicole’s wedding to Keith Urban in June, Nicole’s children with Tom, Connor and Isabella, took an active role in the ceremony with Isabella reprising her bridesmaid role: this time wearing a navy chiffon dress designed by Armani.
  • Businesses in Bracciano made the most of the flood of excited onlookers and reporters to their small town by offering special themed offers. A restaurant near the Castello Odescalchi offered a dish called “Tom e Kat” - parmesan cheese in a basket with mushrooms and truffles - while a clothing shop created a window display of Top Gun-inspired aviation outfits along with a sign congratulating the couple on their nuptials.
