Peter Andre has revealed he demanded a pre-nuptial agreement before marrying Katie Price, aka glamour model Jordan, because he wanted to protect her fortune - and his reputation - in case of a split.

He told the Sun recently: “As soon as Kate accepted my marriage proposal I made it clear I wanted to sign a pre-nup. There was one reason and one reason only - so Kate would always know that I loved her for her and wasn’t after any cash if things went wrong.”

“At first, she was like, ‘Why do we need one? Do you think we’re going to split up?’”

“I said, ‘No, but now you’ll never ever have it in your mind that I’m only with you for your money’. I didn’t want to give people any reason to ever say that to her.”

But Peter’s return to the spotlight after meeting Katie on I’m a Celebrity… in 2004 has served them both well anyway. Peter added: “Since we got married last year both our careers have done well.”

“I may only do two or three things at once, compared to ten for Kate, but we’ve both been very successful . . . touch wood. We’re both now financially secure but I’m glad we signed a pre-nup, just so she always knows how I feel.”
