Will Young has been accused of behaving like a diva during recent shows in South Africa.

First, the Pop Idol winner made a list of backstage demands for a charity show in Durban - including pink champagne and coordinating pink towels - but then refused to take to the stage because he “doesn’t do rain”.

An inside source on the Unite of the Stars tour revealed: “Will stayed in his dressing room and was refusing to come out until it stopped.”

“He was eventually coaxed out of his room and went on to sing but it was a terrible performance.”

“It was a ridiculous situation because his fans had been waiting in the pouring rain to see him and the stage area even had a roof, so he wouldn’t have got wet anyway.”

“Ronan Keating was also on the bill and he was lovely. He chatted to everyone and signed autographs. But Will was the complete opposite.”

The tour then moved on to Johannesburg where Will banned photographers from using their flashes at a press conference and refused to pose with other stars and children from a local charity, saying he would only pose with the children if he was the only star in the picture.

He later refused to pose for pictures with fans or sign autographs after a local tv inteview.

A Johannesburg source added: “His behaviour earned him few fans. He certainly won’t be welcomed back here in a hurry.”
