The father of Nadine Coyle has said the Girls Aloud star will stand by boyfriend Jesse Metcalfe while he’s in rehab for alcohol problems.

Niall Coyle told Reveal magazine recently: “Nadine is in total shock. She never saw this coming, and neither did we. We saw Jesse regularly when we were in the US, and we often thought he drank less than us.”

“Maybe he was trying to hide the fact that he had a problem from the people he cares about.”

“She is devastated this has happened and blames herself that she didn’t see the warning signs.”

“They are staying together. She has been on the phone to Jesse for hours every day since he went into rehab to try and give him support.”

“She will be there for him while he goes through the programme and will be there when he comes out.”

Noel Gallagher has no doubt that his new baby will be wonderful.

Noel, who already has a seven year old daughter Anais with ex-wife Meg Matthews, is expecting a child with partner Sara MacDonald later this year and speaking on Virgin Radio earlier this week, he said: “Another addition to the Gallagher family is what the world has been waiting for.”

Hilary Swank has revealed she escaped a speeding ticket recently because she had been a Good Samaritan.

Hilary explained recently that she had been learning her lines at a Los Angeles bakery/restaurant when she noticed that all the staff were busy so helped an older shopper herself. Unbeknownest to her, her actions were witnessed by a traffic police officer - who happened to pull her over for speeding on the Pacific Coast Highway a few days later: “He goes, ‘Hey, Ms. Swank… You know what, you were speeding… but I’m gonna let you off for being a Good Samaritan.’”

“I said, ‘What? What did I do?’ and he said, ‘I was at that bakery a few days ago when you got behind the counter and helped that woman, that actually happened to be the judge of Malibu.’”

“The moral of the story is, if you’re in a bakery and they’re short-handed, get behind the counter; you never know when it’s gonna help you out.”

It’s quite commen to hear about female celebrities taking up pole-dancing to stay in shape but now the men are at it too.

Peter Andre has reportedly started taking lessons at a gym close to the home he shares with wife Katie Price in Leatherhead, Surrey.

A source close to the couple told the People newspaper that Peter joined the previously women-only group a few weeks ago: “Peter has already been a fitness fanatic and goes to the gym virtually every day.”

“He is always trying out new ways of keeping fit and toned but usually sticks to more conventional methods.”

“Everyone was pretty shocked when he joined the pole-dancing class.”

It looks like Nicole Richie isn’t the only socialite potentially facing prison time - Paris Hilton could face up to 90-days in jail after violating the terms of her probation.

Paris was given probation and had her driving license suspended after not contesting her drink-driving charge from last September. Just days after the sentencing in February, she was pulled over while driving and her car impounded and earlier this week, she was pulled over for a further time after driving along Sunset Boulevard without any headlights.

After the last month’s incicident, Paris and her spokesperson Elliot Mintz claimed they were unaware that her driving license had been suspended but spokesperson for the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office said yesterday: “We have sufficient evidence to prove that Hilton had knowledge of the suspension, and yet continued to drive.”

A hearing has been set for 17 April.

• Nicole Richie has revealed that she’s got big plans for 2007 after she finishes filming the new series of The Simple Life. She told OK! magazine: “I’m working on a style book, plus I’m launching a jewellery and accessories line, a sunglasses line and my own perfume. I think I’m going to do some travelling too. Summer is my favourite time of year, so hopefully I’ll also find time to just relax by the beach.”
• Borat’s Sacha Baron Cohen and fiancee Isla Fisher are rumoured to be expecting their first child together. Isla was spotted on a night out at the Cat and Fiddle pub in Los Angeles recently and was overheard telling friends: “We’ve got some good news: I’m pregnant”. Her spokesperson refused to confirm or deny the rumours, saying: “If or when Isla becomes pregnant, she and her fiancé will decide if an announcement is necessary.”
• Howard K Stern has temporarily postponed the inquest into Daniel Smith’s death by arguing that it is impossible to put together a fair and impartial jury so soon after the massive publicity surrounding Anna Nicole Smith’s recent death. An all female jury had been impaneled by the court in the Bahamas but the judge of the case has now ruled that it should be postponed while Howard’s legal team go to the Bahamian Supreme Court to argue whether the inquest should be abandoned.
