Jenna Elfman has shotdown reports that friend Tom Cruise’s marriage to Katie Holmes is unstable.

Recent reports have claimed that just five months into their marriage, Katie is unhappy in the relationship and the couple are pulling in opposite directions over religion: Katie is keen to return to her Catholic roots while Tom wants her to study more about Scientology.

Jenna, who attended the couple’s wedding in Italy in November, told People magazine this week: “Honestly, they’re happy.”

“They have a great life and they love each other. For some reason, the media cannot experience that. They must put in things other than the simplicity of it.”

“It’s hard to give a detailed explanation on something that’s simple. Honestly, do any of you have a great boyfriend or girlfriend? It’s not a big deal, right? You have fun hanging out, and you like talking and sharing your ideas. It’s exciting. That’s their relationship.”

Paul McCartney has revealed that he’s been learning to play the mandolin and it’s made him remember the thrill of creating music for the first time.

He told Uncut magazine: “I bought a mandolin. It isn’t tuned like a guitar so I didn’t know my way around it. But the feeling of picking my way through and finding chords was magic. It was like I was 17 again.”

“I remembered - this is what it is all about. It was like me and John [Lennon] learning piano. You play and then you hit a wrong note and you go ‘ooohh!’ And you write a whole song on that chord.”

“The excitement of getting the mandolin, finding new chords - that’s really lifted me, that has.”

Paul plays the instrument on his new album which will be released in June.

Sugababe Keisha Buchanan has been accused of deliberately snubbing bandmate Amelle Berrabah’s birthday party - and choosing to go to a private party hosted by 50 Cent instead.

Amelle celebrated her 23rd birthday with friends - and other bandmate Heidi Range and Girls Aloud’s Nicola Roberts - at the party at Silver, in London last week but despite an invite, Keisha didn’t show.

A source told the People newspaper: “Everyone was surprised as it was a very obvious snub. It was a very pointed thing for Keisha to do and shows the widening gap between her and the other two girls.”

“They come together in the recording studio when they need to work but they are not really friends outside of that.”

“Keisha is very career driven because she was the founding member but the other girls see her as too bossy at times.”

David and Victoria Beckham have reportedly finally settled on a house in Los Angeles.

After months of house-hunting, the family have decided to buy a seven-bedroom property in Beverly Hills - with its own tennis court, home cinema, guest apartment and six fountains in the grounds - reportedly costing around $28million.

A source close to the couple told People magazine: “It is done. They’ve found the perfect property for themselves in Beverly Hills. [The mansion is modern, airy, very light and spacious with lots of windows.”

“The house they’ve chosen is big but not huge. That said, it is big enough for them as a family of five, along with additional space for family members that will visit from Britain. They needed a fair amount of extra room for visitors as [guests] will stay a while longer than [they did during] visits to them in Spain.”

Victoria arrived in LA yesterday to finalise the deal: “She will meet with interior designers, discuss fixtures and all aspects of the house plan before flying out shortly afterwards.”

“It’s a massive relief for them. They looked at so many houses. They have been able to finally sort out the house and school. Now they can rest easy for when they arrive. They will crack open a bottle of champagne.”

The family are expected to relocate to the US in July in time for David to start training with the LA Galaxy soccer team and around the same time Victoria’s reality show appears on NBC. They are expected to sell their home in Madrid - but will keep hold of their infamous ‘Beckingham Palace’ in the UK and holiday home in France.

• Pete Doherty is reportedly preparing for another stint in rehab. According to the Sunday Mirror, Pete is set to travel to a clinic in the Midlands tomorrow to have an(other) implant inserted under the skin of his stomach to help wean him off heroin by cancelling out the drugs effects. An inside source told the newspaper: “Pete did go out on a bender last week, but he has reduced his intake massively and he hopes the new implant will help him quit for good.”
• Stella McCartney is reportedly compiling a guest-list full of single, eligible women for dad Paul McCartney’s 65th birthday party in June. A source told the News of the World that Stella is intent on filling the party at her London home with suitable women to boost the chances of Paul finding love again. The source told the newspaper: “Stella doesn’t like the idea of Paul being lonely. She wants to see him settle down with someone nice.”
• Britney Spears was stopped for speeding in Beverly Hills on Friday evening but was let off with just a warning instead of a ticket. According to a police spokesperson, Britney was stopped while driving along Sunset Boulevard around 8.45pm: “She was pulled over for speeding. She was warned about her speed and let go. She was not cited.”

Peter Andre is believed to be suffering from meningitis after hospital tests this week.

Peter was admitted to the East Surrey Hospital in Redhill earlier this week after suffering from a stomach complaint and headaches for a fortnight.

His spokesperson issued a statement saying: “Following recent tests on Peter Andre at the East Surrey Hospital, it is believed that Peter is suffering from suspected meningitis.”

“[He] was admitted last weekend, and at this time we do not have an expected date of discharge.”

The spokesperson added: “It is serious but not the worst strain.”

A friend of the couple’s told the Mirror that Peter’s wife Katie Price, aka glamour model Jordan, was “absolutely stunned” by the diagnosis but as she is currently almost eight months pregnant, “she is doing her best to keep calm for the baby’s sake”.

Peter is believed to have originally fallen ill while the couple were in the US promoting their three-part reality TV show. Filming for follow-up episodes has been suspended while Peter is in hospital.
