Britney Spears’ comeback is disorganise but possible, says Ne-Yo

Pop/R&B singer Ne-Yo has said Britney Spears‘ comeback efforts are incredibly disorganised - but it still might work.

He told Ryan Seacrest’s radio show yesterday: “I wrote 6-8 songs for Britney, working closely with her A&R people at her label and then she shaves her head and goes into rehab. When that happened, I lost all contact with her A&R people - they weren’t returning phone calls.”

After not hearing back from the record company for a number of months, Ne-Yo then offered the tracks to Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger for her solo album and she picked them up. Britney’s people finally got back in touch and were angry that he “gave away” the tracks, asking him to provide two more.

He added: “I don’t know what’s going on over there but I think a comeback is possible. She’s got to remind people why they loved her in the first place and get peoples’ minds off her personal life and back on the music.”

Various tracks are currently circulating around the internet, dubbed Britney’s comeback song and the singer is expected to perform at next month’s MTV Video Music Awards.

Amy Winehouse looking serious but passionate on holiday

Amy Winehouse and husband Blake Fielder-Civil seem to have taken their troubles with them on holiday to St Lucia, even though they’ve pledged not to seek out drugs or drink to excess while over there.

The pair have been frequently spotted on the beach near their exclusive hotel but an onlooker told the Daily Mail: “There has been little of the larking about you would normally expect on a Caribbean break.”

“Instead they seem absorbed in their own world and have been having serious heart-to-hearts in the shade, only breaking off to wander down to the beach for a dip in the sea.”

“They have also been kissing passionately without a care who sees them, which has been quite embarrassing as it is so public.”

But Amy insists she’s doing fine. Her dad Mitch told Radio One yesterday: “I texted her first to see that she was OK. And she texted me back saying, ‘I’m right as rain, love you dad’.”

“I would just ask everyone who has sent me their good wishes to pray for her, as I do.”

“Unless you sit on someone and tie them up and handcuff them - which you obviously cannot do - you have to sit back and let things take their course. That is all I can do.”

Charlotte Church annoyed that Myleene Klass named baby Ava

Charlotte Church is reportedly rather annoyed that Myleene Klass‘ baby arrived a month early - because it allowed Myleene to pip Charlotte to the post over the baby’s name.

Charlotte is said to have picked Ava for her baby if it’s a girl and Lucius for a boy.

A source close to the singer told the Sun: “She’s gutted Myleene got there first. They are struggling to find a girl’s name now.”

Charlotte’s baby, with boyfriend Gavin Henson, is due in the next few weeks.

Gossip snippets: Cheryl Cole, and Jordan

  • Usually the one to beat people down, Girls Aloud’s Cheryl Cole has pledged support for Amy Winehouse and urged the record industry not to snub her. Earlier in the week, Amy’s father-in-law suggested that fans should stop buying her music and she should not be “awarded” for her troubled behaviour at the moment but Cheryl believes Amy’s personal life shouldn’t overshadow her career, telling GMTV: “I think she should be recognised for the work she’s done.”
  • While airbrushing is de rigeur for the vast majority of celebrity photoshoots these days, Jordan insists that it’s not used on her pictures. The glamour model, real name Katie Price, said recently: “I look like myself in photos. I don’t need anything like that to look good.”

Lily Allen enjoys the Notting Hill Carnival .. a little too much

Lily Allen reportedly had a bit too much to drink at the Notting Hill Carnival at the weekend and had to helped up off the ground by strangers after losing her friends.

According to the Mirror, Lily had been drinking cider with best friend, TV presenter Miquita Oliver but the two got separated in the crowd.

An onlooker told the newspaper: “She was really getting into the spirit of the occasion - probably a bit too much. She was drinking outside The Cow pub when she stumbled over and didn’t get up.”

“She looked a bit dazed and soon people were surrounding her and taking pictures of her and laughing.”

“A staff member at [the nearby] Rosa’s Dining Room saw her on the floor, picked her up and took her inside the restaurant to stop everyone gawking at her.”

The restaurant staff gave her coffee and water, then called a taxi to take the singer home: “Lil looked chuffed when the taxi finally showed up as she’d lost her friends and was all on her own.”

Earlier in the day, Lily had a pint of Guinness poured over her head on stage after mocking reggae artist Bobby Kray.

An audience member added: “The audience were lapping it up. Lily didn’t look too happy about the crowd ripping her so badly and made a speedy getaway from the side of the stage.”
