• George Michael has become the highest paid entertainer in modern Russian history after being paid £1.5million to play at Russian businessman Vladimir Potanin’s New Year’s Eve party at his estate just outside Moscow. George, his partner Kenny Goss and a 40-strong group of musicians, backing singers and technicians were flown to Moscow on a private jet at a total cost of £2.5million. A guest at the celebration revealed: “It was an incredible party — you could feel the anticipation building. The place went wild when George finally appeared to wish everyone a Happy New Year.”

They’ll marry in a ceremony near Liz’s Gloucestershire home before flying over to India for additional celebrations - rumoured to be lasting up to five days.
