Baby promise sealed the LA deal for David Beckham
Despite landing a deal worth $250million over five years, it was reportedly the promise of trying for another baby with wife Victoria that sealed the deal for David Beckham.
A friend of the family’s told the Mail on Sunday: “David was really against the move to LA while Victoria decided she wanted to go months ago to reinvent the pair of them as stars on the world stage.”
“She feels that she in particular isn’t really appreciated over here any more - that the English will always see her a bit of a joke while she wants to be a serious name in fashion.”
“Basically she has seen what global fame is like with [Tom Cruise] and [Katie Holmes] and that their fame is on a whole new level. Her thinking is that they have finished with Britain, they have achieved all they are going to here and that America is where the future lies for them.”
“[But] David’s lost his drive when it comes to the celebrity race, he just wants to take it easy for a while. Victoria of course is having none of that - she is more driven now than ever.”
“To all intents and purposes, David would be much happier pootling along at an English club for a few years, spending time with the boys in Britain and growing the family even further by trying for the little girl he has always dreamed of having.”
The friend explained that Victoria and David “cut a deal”, giving her six months in Los Angeles to establish her celebrity then after that, they would try for their fourth child - but even then, Victoria won’t drop out of the limelight.
“Victoria immediately latched onto the commercial possibilities of that. They have already been developing a Brand Beckham-themed clothes and lifestyle range - everything from home interiors to sunglasses. Now Victoria has been talking about a clothes range for pregnant women, and of course toddlers.”
“Katie Holmes’s romance with Tom, the marriage and pregnancy had her on the front pages for months on end and when their baby Suri was eventually shown to the world, it was on the cover of Vanity Fair. Victoria has been saying would love to do the cover of Vanity Fair.”
“The Americans love the idea of a wholesome family. Victoria has been talking very excitedly about the whole idea and has agreed that will be the plan.”

If they are ever featured on the cover of VF or any other respectable magazine here in the States- I’ll gag! They are nauseating- particualry Victoria- and as for this “baby-deal”, one word comes to mind- PATHETIC!

I feel for you Americans I really do. These two are utterly false. I think most of us Brits are quite glad to get rid of them. They are total freaks of nature.

I see Victoria’s “Quest for World Domination” is still alive and well. Anybody can be famous but few get respect - something Victoria craves, but will never have.
