Lindsay Lohan was reportedly spurred to go into rehab after a heavy night of drinking after James Franco made it clear he wasn’t interested in her romantically.

Lindsay first met James at the premiere of her film A Prairie Home Companion in June and was said to be “really taken with him”. They were spotted partying together on a number of occasions over the summer and into the autumn but James was apparently reluctant to take it further.

On Monday night, the pair both attended Prince’s Golden Globes after-party at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel and a fellow partygoer told the New York Post Lindsay spent most of the evening trying to woo the Spiderman star.

The onlooker revealed: “She came with her manager, Jason Weinberg, and a girlfriend, but she was mostly solo for the whole night.”

“Most people were in a good mood — except for her. She seemed lost. She was trying to get James’ attention, and he wouldn’t give her anything. She was smoking a lot, not drinking in front of him, and then she went into a bedroom.”

“From there, she went back to trying to get James’ attention again, and he was ignoring her. She ran out crying, with the girlfriend following her.”

A few hours later, Lindsay was reportedly found slumped in a hotel corridor and was helped to leave the party. She checked into rehab on Wednesday afternoon.
