Angelina Jolie’s mother dies after six year cancer battle
Angelina Jolie is understandably distraught after her mother died on Saturday evening after a six year fight against ovarian cancer.
Angelina and Brad flew to Los Angeles from New Orleans on Saturday afternoon to be with Marcheline Bertrand in her final hours. The two, along with Angelina’s brother James Haven, were at Marcheline’s bedside when she died.
Marcheline raised Angelina and James by herself after their father Jon Voight walked out on the family when Angelina was just a year old.
An ex-girlfriend of James’ told People magazine: “Marcheline was beautiful, caring and totally devoted to her children. I never saw her upset or sad, even after she was diagnosed with cancer.”
A second source said yesterday: “Angie was dreading this moment. She felt she had already lost her father - and now her mom too.”

Knowing that her mum was terribly ill, shouldn’t miss jolie have stayed in LA to be with her, atleast so she could spend her last moments with family. But no, she went off to live in New Orleans.

No comment on the new orleans bit. I hope the whole family remain strong through this testing time. Best of luck on that front.

If Angelina cared for her mother…why didn’t she stay with her and take care of her during this illness? Because Angelina is a wacko, and Brad Pitt is an even bigger wacko. Save the orphans but neglect mom. Hmm. Humanitarianism at its best.

Angelina’s mother must have been an incredible woman to have raised such a strong and independant daughter. No matter who you are or what you do for a living, we are all human, and loosing your mother is one of worse things that can happen in one’s life. I think the press should respect her and tone down the media frenzy for a little while. It’s not a fair playing ground at this time.

I did not mean what I said in a horrible way. My mum had cancer too, on my 14th birthday all I could think about in school was getting back home to be with her. She survived it, and even though I’m still in my late teens, I know that it is only right that in such a situation, spending time with an ill loved one is the most important thing. I wish angelina and co. comfort in this time, but I still think she should have stayed by her mums side. Just my view anyway.

Regrets there’s a crazy fan in this site. You’ve just been attacked by her. She reacts badly if you say anything bad about Jolie. This person’s using different names and race. Beware of the animal.

My grandfather passed from cancer after being sick for six years. The family was notified that he only had months, maybe days, to live. Every day, my father would visit his father, often taking me. There were days where all my grandfather would do was sleep, but my father sat by his side.
To the person that said cancer is unpredictable, you’re only half right.
I do partly agree with regret. I hope Jolie doesn’t have any regrets about not spending time with her dying mother. Regret is a silent killer.
With that note, I wish her (jolie) and the family many healing thoughts. To lose a mother is a horrible thing.

Not to take away from the pain of losing a mother but damn, I can honestly say that miliions of mom have sacrificed promising careers and stepped up to always be there for her kids.
It comes across to me that Angelina feels bad that her mother gave up so much and I think she wrongfully resents her dad because of decisions her MOTHER made. Granted her dad was probably a piece of s**t husband and father for most of the relationship but I believe the very young and beautiful, wanna be actress, Marcheline knew what she was looking for when she married the handsone, moviestar, coming off a blocker with oscar nomination .

I think for her own mental well-being she should see a therapist and weed her way through all the craziness in her life with the people she loves (a little psychoanalysis of the relationship with her bro wouldn’t hurt, I have to agree with dad on that one).
