Christian Slater: I had to live up to bad boy image
Christian Slater realises he is responsible for his bad boy, womanising reputation but believes he was just trying to make his life imitate his art.
Christian has been arrested on a number of occasions and spent time in jail in 1989 for drink-driving and resisting arrest, then spent another 59 days in prison in 1997 for assaulting then-girlfriend Michelle Jones. He has also spent time in rehab dealing with alcohol and drug addictions.
He said recently: “I have contributed to that [bad boy] image in certain respects. Good boys don’t get in trouble. They don’t get arrested. They don’t go through these things.”
“[But] a lot of it comes from trying to live up to a projected image as well.”
“I played some bad boys in movies - Heathers, in particular - and I felt I had to live up to that.”

The problem with the influences of television have proved otherwise for Christian who like all of us at some point have got off on some downtrodden perception of a non-reality that is basically nothing more than an over active imagination…Something I know too well myself. On the other hand being around and influenced by a particluar role at the time and what is percieved as that reality it would be extremely diffult to NOT become that character in life to some extent (Have you ever tried acting??!) Be it our own invention of ideas or that of a typical following of suit, put any respectable Vicar in a room full of orgies for a few months and you bet something of some description or another will (Pardon the pun) crop up…! As humans and influential creative beings I beleive that we have many opressions and suppressions to go with our splendour and that Christians dilemmas obviously resulted from these areas in his life and personality teamed with those influnces and personalites of those around him to which he was basically asking for trouble! Anyway…Who says that what he done was wrong? It’s only a perception of your own opinion as to whether you think he was just or not by the supposed crimes he committed…I can say one thing and one thing only people…I’m sure glad that Christian didn’t play Hannibal!
