Josh Hartnett has revealed that doesn’t like making blockbusters - he’d prefer to make smaller films with more interesting characters.

He said recently: “At the start of my career I was doing more interesting films like O and The Virgin Suicides and then I kind of got thrown into the mix.”

“Hollywood does this to actors, it puts them on a fast track to becoming a big matinee name.”

“Some actors go along for the ride to make a lot of money and meet a lot of girls, but that’s never been my focus.”

He starred in 2001’s Pearl Harbour and 2002’s 40 Days and 40 Nights but more recently has played a man with Asperger’s Syndrome (a type of autism) in Mozart and the Whale and period piece The Black Dahlia.

Josh added: “I’m interested in the characters and in being part of films that stand the test of time.”
