Katie Holmes: giving birth to Suri was empowering
Katie Holmes has revealed she felt empowered after giving birth to daughter Suri last April.
She told Harper’s Bazaar recently: “I felt so proud to be having a baby and so excited. And I felt closer to other women-to my sisters, to my mom. I felt empowered, like ‘I’ve given birth. I did it! There’s nothing I can’t handle.’”
“I’ve really enjoyed this time that I have taken to be with Suri as well as the challenges of the first couple of months: feeding and pumping, learning to decipher what each cry means-is she hungry? Is she tired? Does she need a fresh diaper? And figuring out how to really help her.”
And she isn’t in any sort of rush to get back to work because she loves being a mum so much: “I have a whole new set of responsibilities. My work is very important to me. My family is very important to me. When I go to work, it will be the right thing, worth my time and worth my time away from my family.”

I guess I am lucky, …in the sense that I feel extremely happy for people who experience good fortune. Tom and Katie managed to do what few ever really endeavor to try, …seeking the happiness and fortune they desire in life. So often the new prints of ‘the ill-fated love of unequally matched partners.’ Tom Cuise and Katie Holmes aren’t ill-fated, nor unequally matched. They are two mature individuals who compliment one another, by choice. Love isn’t luck, …it’s a decision we make everyday. Tom and Katie may just have it all, …and if they do, I’m happy for them.
