Anna Nicole Smith has died after collapsing at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

According to reports on a local news station WFOR-TV, Anna Nicole was unresponsive when found in her hotel room around 2pm EST and was rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital.

Paramedics were seen performing CPR on Anna Nicole as she was transported into the ambulance and local streets were closed to allow her to be rushed to the hospital.

The 39 year old was given an emergency intubation by doctors but could not be resuscitated. She was pronounced dead at 2.49pm EST.

Anna Nicole’s attorney Ron Rale confirmed the news to MSNBC saying: “I can confirm that she is deceased. It’s as shocking to me as to you guys.

“I don’t know anything further. [Her partner] Howard [K. Stern] obviously is speechless and grieving.”

Last November, Anna Nicole was hospitalised with pneumonia for a week as a precautionary measure after giving birth to daughter Dannielynn in September. Dannielynn is believed to be at the family’s home in the Bahamas at the moment but Howard had joined Anna Nicole in Florida for the break. Anna Nicole’s son, Daniel Smith, died in September; there is expected to be a formal inquest into his death later this year.

UPDATE: The Seminole Police Department have reportedly sealed off Anna Nicole’s hotel room pending investigation and will hold a press conference about the death at 4.30EST. The Broward County Medical Examiner has also been dispatched to collect Anna Nicole’s body from the hospital.

UPDATE #2: The Seminole Police spokesperson Police Chief Charlie Tiger has confirmed that a private nurse found Anna Nicole alone in the room and called the hotel operator for help at 1.38pm EST. Anna Nicole’s bodyguard was already administering CPR when the paramedics arrived at 1.45pm. The spokesperson didn’t know if Anna Nicole had been previously unwell at any point since arriving in Florida on Monday and couldn’t comment further on the cause of death or the circumstances surrounding it until the medical examiner and investigation teams had made their reports.

UPDATE #3: The Chief Coroner of the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed that Anna Nicole’s body is now at their Ft. Lauderdale office and an autopsy will be carried out early tomorrow morning. A paramedic who attended the scene has told a local news station that Anna Nicole was already dead when they entered the room.

UPDATE #4: Anna Nicole’s lawyer Ron Rale has added that she had been feeling unwell recently: “Anna did have some flu symptoms. I believe the last couple of days she was not feeling well. I think she had a fever. It is shocking - just a horrible, horrible thing.”

“I do not think anyone should have to endure what she has. I felt like Anna was the underdog having all this thrust on her. She just wanted to be a mum, she was a good mum.”
