• Britney Spears reportedly begged for a limited edition Hearst-and-Heatherette handbag at a fashion show last week but Lydia Hearst wasn’t having any of it. According to the New York Daily News, heiress/model Lydia said “I’m only giving the bag to accomplished young women who are doing something positive to affect the world around them” and evidently Britney didn’t fit into that category.
  • Queen Latifah has revealed she plans to adopt a number of children but won’t follow in Angelina Jolie or Madonna’s footsteps by adopting from overseas. She told Ellen DeGeneres recently: “I want to adopt an American baby … there’s just so many kids that could use a home.” She added that while she could see why stars adopt internationally, she would rather “help a kid in the hood.”
  • Kerry Katona married fiance Mark Croft in Gretna Green yesterday with more security guards than wedding guests. The couple married at the Forge Chapel at the Mill Hotel at 8.30pm in front of two friends, Mark’s mum and six security guards. An onlooker told the Sun: “There were security guys with earpieces shielding Kerry with umbrellas. You’d have thought they were guarding the Queen.” Kerry is due to give birth next month and a source close to the pair added: “They were desperate to get legally married before the baby arrived.”
