Coleen McLoughlin insists that despite their wealth, she and fiance Wayne Rooney are still just ordinary people who like to curl up on the sofa and watch tv together.

She revealed recently: “You can have money but still be down-to-earth. It’s really important to stay close to old family and friends.”

“I even like going to Tesco. Okay, people stare at what we are buying but it’s really nice doing something domesticated together.”

“We don’t discuss money, it’s not important to us. Wayne has bought me presents and sometimes he treats me, but he doesn’t spend loads on me. We’re still just ordinary people.”

“We have a glass of wine and watch TV, usually the soaps. Then we go to bed where Wayne will watch a DVD and I fall asleep. I think 10pm is late but then I have to get Wayne up for training with a cuppa because he hates getting out of bed.”

“We call Monday night Mad Monday because we watch Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Eastenders and Corrie again. Sometimes we’ll record all the soaps and watch them after the football.”

“We love doing things like snuggling up on the sofa and watching X Factor. It’s Wayne’s favourite, we both think it’s dead good.”

“It’s lovely to have the chance to dress up and go to posh places but there’s nothing like coming home and remembering who you are and why you were there.”

“That’s not real life - what happens at home is where it’s real.”
