  • Fashion house Escada has confirmed that Naomi Watts is pregnant with her first child. Naomi’s spokespeople have repeated denied the rumours but in a press release about Naomi’s Academy Awards gown, a rep for Escada commented: “The Escada gown set off her most precious new asset - the baby she is expecting with long-time boyfriend Liev Schreiber.”
  • Helena Christensen was reportedly in a terrible mood after being stood up - if only momentarily - at a post-Oscars party at Chateau Marmont. An onlooker told the Mirror that she was shouting into her phone: “I’m sitting here by my f***ing self in the lobby. Where are you? I had a bag with $500,000 worth of jewellery and someone took it!” The source added that the bag, which actually contained a laptop and not jewellery, was later found in Helena’s own car.
  • Best Actress winner Helen Mirren received an offer of free cosmetic surgery and Botox injections ahead of her trip down the red carpet last night but she decided against it. She said: “I’m very vain, which initially made playing Elizabeth Windsor in all those tweeds pretty daunting. But I’m not fond of all those needles and scalpels. I’ll try to get away with make-up, jewellery and a nice frock.”
