Charlotte Church and Gavin HensonCharlotte Church’s mum Maria has said she and husband James are thrilled that Charlotte has confirmed she is expecting her first child with boyfriend Gavin Henson.

Maria said last night: “It is absolutely magical news. We are thrilled for Charlotte and Gavin and looking forward to being a nan and grandad.”

“We found out three-and-a-half weeks ago.”

The singer turned TV presenter is thought to be just over two months pregnant and was spotted visiting a Cardiff hospital yesterday where she is thought to have had a scan.

A friend of the family’s told the Mirror that Charlotte and Gavin are keen to marry in good time before the baby arrives in the late summer: “Charlotte’s always wanted a wedding in Castell Coch and has set aside two dates in April. She’s an old-fashioned girl from a Catholic family and would want to get wed without a bump showing.”

“This has come at a good time for her. A baby is just what she needs to calm down. Charlotte’s always enjoyed partying and has never needed an excuse to go out and get p***ed.”

“A baby will give her responsibilities which I’m sure she’ll take very seriously. She’s great with kids and will make a really good mum.”

The friend added that Charlotte believes she conceived at Christmas and told the friend: “It’s the best present Gavin could have given me. It’s better than any stocking filler.”
