More details have emerged regarding Angelina Jolie’s adoption of a child from Vietnam.

A source has now claimed that rather than going for another baby, Angelina and partner Brad Pitt are looking to adopt a four year old Vietnamese boy from the Tam Binh Orphanage near Ho Chi Minh City to be a “playmate” for five year old son Maddox.

The source, claiming to be a friend of the couple, told People magazine: “It’s wonderful that people are excited about it. But she is only at the beginning of a very comprehensive and detailed process.”

The source added that the process to adopt the boy “began shortly after Shiloh was born [in May last year]” rather than when Angelina and Brad visited the country and orphanage in November.

Vu Duc Long, from the Vietnamese Ministry for Justice International Adoption Department, has asserted that “[Jolie] will have to follow procedure like any other American” but other sources have claimed that she has already been given preferential treatment as adoption is usually restricted to married couples while Angelina has filed as a single woman.

Another source told Us Weekly that there might be an incentive to speed up the adoption process: “[Angelina] promised to give $2 million to the Tam Binh orphanage on the very day she receives the child.”
