Dr Joshua Perper, the Florida Medical Examiner who carried out the autopsy on Anna Nicole Smith has revealed that he knows the cause of death but will not release his report until the local police have concluded their own investigation into the case.

Perper carried out a full autopsy on Anna Nicole after her death last month but has been waiting until now to receive the results from various toxicology tests. Perper had previously revealed that no tablets or pills were found in Anna Nicole’s stomach and he ruled out that her death had resulted from blunt-force trauma, asphyxiation or any other physical trauma.

He said on Wednesday although he knows the cause, he will keep it a secret to avoid influencing or conflicting with the Seminole Police Department’s findings.

But he added that he met with Police Chief Charlie Tiger on Wednesday to discuss some new (confidential) evidence that had come to light: “We exchanged information. They informed us about additional pieces of evidence that they have obtained.”

“This is going to delay [the announcement] for another week or two.”
