Pete Doherty annoys bandmates by writing with Kate Moss
Pete Doherty has reportedly annoyed his Babyshambles bandmates by working with girlfriend Kate Moss rather than them on the lyrics for their new album.
An inside source told the Daily Mail that Adam Ficek, Drew McConnell and Mick Whitnall refused to go to the NME Awards earlier this month because Pete was taking Kate - who they view as just a model and not a musician or lyricist.
The source said: “Pete has really pushed the other guys’ buttons this time. They’ve had enough of his obsession with Kate. He keeps calling her his ‘muse’ and she says he’s her ‘inspiration’.
“The band don’t mind Kate getting up on stage and performing with them the odd time, but writing the album with them is different.”
But Pete and Kate won’t be waylaid by the band’s anger: “They are both very excited by the work they’ve done together so far and spend most weekends at Kate’s Cotswolds home writing lyrics together.”
“They go on long walks in the country so they can clear their heads, and often Kate has an idea or comes up with a line and they scribble it down. Kate is mainly helping Pete with the lyrics, though she’s also trying to help with some of the melodies.”
“She keeps saying that modelling is just visual and she is really enjoying using her mind and discovering how to be a poet. She has found the whole experience of being creative with Pete incredibly inspirational. She thinks he’s a brilliant genius of our age.”
