Coleen McLoughlin thinks it’s sad that so many girls are desperate to marry footballers.

Coleen, who is engaged to England and Manchester United player Wayne Rooney, said recently: “Since the World Cup the whole WAG thing has got out of control. I hope it’s a passing phase.”

“There’s a new show starting later this year called I Want To Be A WAG, in which girls compete to marry a footballer.”

“It all seems a bit mad and desperate to me. I don’t think looking for love on a TV show will end in happiness.”

Coleen and Wayne are planning to marry next year after dating since 2001.
