Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are reportedly planning to marry in Mexico over the summer after changing their mind about a quick Las Vegas wedding last month.

The couple started dating just before Christmas were rumoured to have got engaged earlier this month but a source has now told the National Enquirer that it was very nearly more than that.

The source claims that the pair planned to marry in Las Vegas on 17th February: “They picked out matching silver and diamond rings at a jewellery boutique in Caesar’s Palace and then headed to the Little White Wedding Chapel where the hovered outside for ages.”

“But Nicole wanted her dad’s blessing so they went straight to see him when they got back to Los Angeles.”

The two then headed back to Los Angeles to speak to Nicole’s dad, Lionel Richie: “Joel was nervous but he was greeted with open arms and a big hug from Lionel, who thanked him for everything he has done for Nicole.”

The source added that the couple are now planning their nuptials at Las Ventanas resort in Cabo San Lucas: “It would be a small ceremony with under 100 people.”
