Pete Doherty to play for troops in Afghanistan?
Pete Doherty is reportedly trying to organise a gig for troops fighting in Afghanistan to attempt to fix his relationship with his father, a Major in the Royal Corps of Signals.
According to his spokesperson, he’s “very keen” to organise Easter shows for soldiers based in the country.
A source close to him added: “He realises the black humour in the fact the world opium supply comes from Afghanistan. But his intentions are genuine. He grew up on Army camps and believes he can cheer-up some of the lads on the front line. He also wants to show his dad rock’n'roll can be a force for good.”
A spokesperson for the Army said regarding the offer: “Most of our troops are young men between 18 and 25. We are taking this approach seriously.”
If we can make it happen we will.”
