The Beckhams plan £750,000 send-off party
David and Victoria Beckham are reportedly planning to throw a £750,000 American-themed party to mark their move to Los Angeles later this year.
A source told the People newspaper that they were plan to outdo their Full Length and Fabulous Pre-World Cup party from last year: “They spent £500,000 last year and this year’s bash will be even bigger. It is called The America Party and organisers are busy planning.”
“David and Victoria are both really excited about relocating and want to make sure they have a good send off.”
“Themed tables will each represent one of the 50 states, food will be American themed - even the waitresses will be dressed in American diner-style uniforms like something out of Grease.”
“It’s going to be really tacky and all very tongue-in-cheek - which totally sums up Victoria’s sense of humour.”
The couple have reportedly picked 12th Century Amberley Castle in West Sussex for the May event but they won’t be inviting many of David’s former footballing teammates from his days at Manchester United and in the England team: “The focus will be on celebs from the world of TV, film and music.
“There will be fewer sports stars and certainly no one from the Football Association. [Current England manager Steve McClaren] won’t be invited and neither will Sven Goran Eriksson. Only the players who are real friends to David will be asked.”
