Amy WinehouseAmy Winehouse has revealed that she’s prone to violence when she’s drunk and depressed - but it’s usually self-inflicted.

She told Q magazine recently that she frequents suffers from bouts of drunken depression and ends up “slapping herself”: “Not punching myself in the face, but slapping. I drank a whole bottle of champagne and then just got depressed. I didn’t feel like I looked good. And I’m quite self-destructive when I’m drunk.”

At recent appearances in the US, Amy has been spotted with cuts and scratches on her arms - like those on show at the Elle Style Awards earlier this year - and while not confirmed that they’re further self-harming, she admitted that she cut herself when she was younger: “It’s a funny thing, a morbid curiosity. I’m talking about when I was nine. What does that feel like? ‘Ow, that f*****g hurts.’ It’s probably the worst thing I’ve done.”

She added that she used the pain from getting her 13 tattoos in a similar “relieving” way: “It’s a way of suffering for the things that mean a lot to you. Actually I like the pain. To me, it relieves you.”
