Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster are reportedly planning to marry on the Italian island of Capri in June.

Rod proposed to Penny at the top of the Eiffel Tower in early 2005 but the couple didn’t want to start planning their nuptials until Rod’s divorce from ex-wife Rachel Hunter as finalised last year.

Now a friend of the pair has told the Sun the plans are coming along - but Rod and Penny are keeping the arrangements very close to their chests: “They have found this romantic Italian island retreat and will marry there mid-June. They want it to have a cosy rustic feel rather than anything too glitzy and the spot they have found is perfect.”

“They’re so desperate to keep the plans secret they have hardly told a soul. Half of Rod’s family still think it’s going to be in France.”

The source added that they have turned down six-figure magazine deals in order to keep the event private and guests will be flown in by helicopter and private jet so they won’t know the details until they’re on the way.
