Pete Doherty given drugs ultimatum by people closest to him

Pete Doherty has revealed that he’s got a new impetus to give up drugs: his friends - and fiancee Kate Moss - have urged him to get clean.

Appearing at yesterday’s Thames Magistrates Court review of his ongoing supervision order, Pete told District Judge Jane McIvor: “A lot has changed in the past week. The people closest to me have had enough. They’ve said it’s the drugs or them.”

Judge McIvor praised Pete’s efforts to get clean - even though after over a year he has yet have a negative result in his routine drugs tests, saying she realises it’s a “hard road .. All we can do is provide the network. You have to do all the hard work.”

Pete added: “I’m quite keen to show a negative test as soon as possible, really.”

Pete signed autographs and posed with fans on his way out of the court while eating a sausage roll but said “I don’t want to talk” when asked for a comment by waiting reporters.

His case will be reviewed again in October.
