Ethan Hawke on his efforts to be a vegetarian
Ethan Hawke has revealed that his cameo in new film Fast Food Nation has helped him give up junk food, but as much as he tries, he hasn’t been able give up meat entirely.
Ethan told the Independent recently: “I’ve been trying very hard [to go vegetarian] for the last five years and sometimes I succeed and sometimes I don’t.”
His mum is a committed veggie and he added: “She has a joke that she always says at dinner conversations, which is, ‘Are you vegetarian yet?’, because she believes that by the time my children are grown up, basically everybody will be one.”
“If you had to kill the cow every time you had to eat it, if you had to go slit its throat, you would eat meat about twice a year.”

That’s awesome! I’m really excited that another celeb is going veg. I too was moved after I saw Fast Food Nation.
I hope others follow Ethan’s lead and go vegan! :)

Good for him. I don’t miss meat at all. It was no problem for me to give it up because once I learned the facts, meat was just so repulsive to me. I never really ate much meat in the first place, but if meat has been a big part of your diet for a long time, I know it’s tough. The important thing is to eat a lot less meat, even if you can’t completely eliminate it. I haven’t seen Fast Food Nation yet, but I read the intro to the book and it does get you very fired up.

Eating meat secretly wrecks the eaters soul.
But it also wrecks the soul of the people working in the meat industry.
Makes criminals out of both customers and providers of the service.
