Spice Girls meet-ups this week: making plans for Christmas reunion?

The four-fifths Spice Girl reunion at David Beckham’s birthday party this week was reportedly less to celebrate David’s special day and more to plan a single Christmas reunion show for the band.

Melanie Brown flew in from Los Angeles to meet with Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell - as well as Victoria Beckham - at David’s party at exclusive restaurant Cipriani on Wednesday night.

A source told the Sun: “Mel B had been telling everyone she was going to London to say happy birthday to David. But the truth is she isn’t particularly close to him.”

“She went to the party because she wanted to hang out with the girls and because they had business to discuss. They have been offered a fortune to do the show and they want to do it.”

The band’s fifth member, Melanie Chisholm, didn’t attend this week’s dinner because she was busy making a video but reportedly discussed the idea of a reunion with Victoria and Emma at the christening of Geri’s daughter Bluebell last month.

The Christmas date for the reunion would allow adequate time for rehearsals and for Emma to get back into shape after giving birth to her first child this summer.

After Wednesday’s big night out, Mel and Geri were spotted shopping together yesterday and they met up with Emma for a meal at the Ivy in London’s West End for a meal in the evening.
