Paris Hilton dumps publicist Elliot Mintz over probation misunderstanding
Paris Hilton has parted ways with her longtime publicist Elliot Mintz after the socialite was sentenced to 45 days of jailtime for violating her probation.
During her court hearing on Friday, Paris testified that Elliott had told her that despite having her license suspended, she was still allowed to drive for work purposes. However that wasn’t the case and the two have now parted company.
Elliot issued a statement on Sunday, explaining that he had apologised to the heiress “for any misunderstanding she received from me regarding the terms of her probation … that I have miscommunicated information I received from her attorneys. I am deeply and profoundly sorry.”
He added: “I believe when stated in court that she believed it was o.k. for her to drive under certain circumstances she was being absolutely truthful… Paris is a wonderful person and does not deserve the punishment that was handed down by the court. I only wish her my best.”
Elliot has worked with Paris for several years, with her saying last year: “I speak to him more than anyone else in my life. He really gets me, the whole Paris thing. He knows it’s all a game. I trust him with my life.”
Paris is scheduled to enter the Century Regional Detention Facility on 5th June. She told photographers outside her home this weekend that she believes she has been excessively punished because of her celebrity: “I told the truth. I feel that I was treated unfairly and that the sentence is both cruel and unwarranted. I don’t deserve this.”
