Pete Doherty offers Kate Moss’ possession as taxi fare
Pete Doherty reportedly tried to give away items belonging to girlfriend Kate Moss when he didn’t have enough money to pay a taxi fare.
Cab driver Roland Andrews told the Mirror that he first picked up Pete on Camden Road in North London one night last week, after Pete’s new car ran out of fuel. Pete asked to be taken to the home he shares with Kate in St John’s Wood - but possibly predicting he wouldn’t get a warm reception, he asked Roland to wait outside.
Roland told the newspaper: “He was up there for five minutes and comes rushing out with some belongings including a battered suitcase, an empty picture frame and his guitar.”
“Then all of a sudden Kate comes running out in her skimpy nightdress and hurls a glass at my cab. She was screaming all sorts at him and Pete shouted at me to head for the Cotswolds to get as far away from her as possible.”
“As I started driving he tried to explain the ruckus, saying, ‘Women trouble. I’ve messed up my life. I’ve messed up with everyone around me.’”
“Then he started going on about how he’ll be getting another implant to stop the drugs having an effect on him and turn his life around.”
Roland drove Pete to Kate’s country cottage in the Cotswolds: “By the time we got [there] it was 4.30am and I told him the fare was £250, but he suddenly announced that he only had £100 on him.”
“He was pretty apologetic and told me I should contact his accountant for the rest as he didn’t have a cashpoint card or anything.”
“He asked me to help him unload his stuff into Kate’s house and then he said, ‘If there’s anything here you want then help yourself to it. The missus won’t mind.’”
“I couldn’t believe it. He was saying that I could have whatever I wanted - there was all sorts in there. But I was hardly going to go and take someone’s belongings so of course I said no.”
Pete then hugged Roland and repeated the promise that his accountant would sort it out - but when Roland called, the accountant refused to pay up: “It was a pretty odd night all round - witnessing a huge row between Pete and Kate Moss and then being invited to help myself to her stuff.”
“It was an experience - although I’ve lost out on £150!”
