Paris Hilton will do a minimum of 23 days in jail, says sheriff’s spokesperson
After endless rumours about Paris Hilton’s forthcoming jailtime - ranging from stories that it’ll just a few hours inside to the whole 45 days on a chain gang, a spokesperson from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office has said the heiress will probably be locked up for 23 days.
Spokesperson Steve Whitmore said yesterday: “The possibility that she will be processed in and out in a day is over. She will do her full time, minus 22 days because of a state jail policy encouraging good inmate behavior.”
Whitmore added that the 22-day reduction was “reached after an evaluation of all factors, including the judge’s written orders, the nature of her offense, and her lack of a criminal history”.
Paris’ legal team have filed a notice of appeal but with just 19 days to go before she is to enter the Century Regional Detention Center, they have yet to file details of their full argument to overturn or lessen the sentence.
Paris’ mum Kathy, who was initially livid at the sentencing, has said this week that she hopes the temporary incarceration of her first born will ultimately be for the best: “We can only hope that something positive will come from all of this. Hopefully, young people who look up to people like Paris will learn from this.”
