Orlando BloomOrlando Bloom has revealed he’s solidified his plans to take a break from Hollywood for a while.

After starring in two sets of trilogies - Lord of the Rings then Pirates of the Caribbean - as well as other films over the last few years, Orlando has said he wants to spend some time on a stage in front of a camera and has signed up to act in In Celebration in the West End.

Orlando expected to move into the theatre after graduating from London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama and so found it “huge” and “surreal” to jump straight into films: “[I want] to go back to the beginning, as if I’ve just come out of school again.”

“I’m just part of what will be a great company of actors. I just really wanted to have a very organic experience. I didn’t want to feel like I was in a star vehicle yet by any means.”

“[Hollywood]’s been wonderful, but I’m sort of psyched to do something completely different. I’m looking forward to continuing working on movies and making choices that excite me, and right now that is doing some theatre.”

He added that he doesn’t think this move will restrict his future choices in any way: “Actors don’t really get into their stride until they’re in their late 30s and 40s. … So when I think of the bigger picture, I’ve got a long road ahead and I think it’s going to be important for me as an actor to work on my craft in this way.”
