Jessica SimpsonAfter several months as a brunette, Jessica Simpson has got progressively blonder over the last few weeks and while she claims it’s for her new film, other sources claim her split from boyfriend John Mayer is the reason behind the change.

Explaining her first step on the road to back to blonde-dom at the Cannes Film Festival last week, Jessica explained “I’m on my way to being blonde for my new movie” - Major Movie Star which starts shooting at the start of July.

But an inside source told Us Weekly that John preferred her hair darker - her natural colour even though she’s most well known for her blonde locks: “John told Jessica that she has to change. He didn’t want to be dating this ‘blonde bimbo.’”

Now the pair has (possibly) gone their separate ways, Jessica has returned to the bleach bottle. She’s said previously: “I think I do have a little bit more fun as a blonde. People take me a little too seriously when I’m a brunette. They think I’m trying to be dark and mysterious, when really I’m not.”
