Mike Myers overshadowed by French Shrek at Cannes

Shrek star Mike Myers has admitted he was shocked at the reaction he received at a screening of Shrek the Third at the Cannes Film Festival last week.

Mike attended the event with Alain Chabat, the French language voice for the loveable ogre, and he was surprised to discover the French fans were more interested in Alain than him.

He told Empire magazine: “It was weird in Cannes when we got out of the car at the screening and we’re up on the Jumbotron and there’s 20,000 people there.”

“When Alain Chabat came out people were jumping up in the air, French people exploding, they couldn’t believe it.”

“I get out and it’s like cricket, cricket, cricket. You know when you open a car door and it makes that ning, ning, ning, ning sound? You could actually hear that.”

“I was like, ‘Hey, I’m in the movie too. If you were in America, you’d like me.’”
