I’ve just written up the MTV Movie Awards fashion write-up and I noticed that not one of the this year’s awards was won by a woman*. Even the “Best Kiss” trophy was picked up by two men - Will Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen.

I think this reflects on both the demographic make-up of Hollywood and those voting (the general, MTV-watching public) - when I was younger, I probably wouldn’t have voted for women either.

Still though, I do worry when we write these Red Carpet Commentary things that we’re feeding into that divide - men pick up the awards while the women look pretty (and/or a badly-dressed state). I want to feature men more in these things but they’re outfits are usually dull and uncomment-worthy. Sigh.

* The closest we-as-a-gender came to getting a popcorn award was through Keira Knightley being one of the three leading stars in Pirates of the Caribbean.
