Richie SamboraRichie Sambora checked himself into rehab on Wednesday, according to a statement issued by his publicist.

His spokesperson confirmed that the Bon Jovi guitarist has entered “an undisclosed rehab facility in Los Angeles” but refused to provide any details on the nature of his problem.

A friend of Richie’s told People magazine that Richie has had a “terrible year” - his divorce from wife Heather Locklear was finalised shortly before his father died of lung cancer in April, and he also split up from girlfriend of nearly a year, Denise Richards. The friend continued: “I think this was a culmination of all these things and finally he realized he needed to take care of himself. He’d put off everything for so long taking care of everyone else it was just time to stop and deal with his issues.”

Bon Jovi’s new album ‘Lost Highway’ is set for release later in the month and the group are set to start a limited tour in London on 24th June: it has not been confirmed whether or not Richie’s rehab will affect his participation in these shows.
