Rihanna has revealed that her ‘Umbrella’ collaborator Jay-Z is hugely protective of her but she doesn’t mind.

Jay ‘discovered’ the 19 year old singer and signed her to his Def Jam label in 2005 and she told People magazine recently that he manages her love life too: “I just found out from a mutual friend that guys will talk to Jay first before they try to approach me.”

“He’s very protective. Jay has my best interests in mind. If it’s a good guy I know Jay won’t shut him down. But if he’s not, Jay will be like, ‘No, no, no.’ ”

“He actually never tells me [who approaches him]. I have no clue who they are and I guess I’ll never know.”

Rihanna added that she hopes someone will make it through Jay’s filtering system soon and she prefers: “tall guys who have a sense of humor, love to laugh, have a good time and good conversation.”
