Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal’s much rumoured relationship has reportedly come to an end.

The pair are rumoured to have started dating in March after getting to know one another while filming Rendition but after growing closer over the last few weeks, a source close to Reese has decided it’s getting to be too much too soon.

The source told Us Weekly: “She has either called it off or is just taking a break.”

“She cares for Jake, but the timing is crappy. She doesn’t have enough emotional space for him right now.”

Reese separated from husband Ryan Phillippe last November and has tried to stay out of the limelight - and certainly off the public dating scene since then: “she’s worried that when she’s in public, everyone’s talking about her failed marriage.”

Jake is also said to have told friends recently: “I’m single again”.
