Nicole Kidman and Keith UrbanNicole Kidman wanted to have a quiet celebration for her 40th birthday last week but found out that’s impossible when you’re an A-list Hollywood currently filming in a small town.

Husband Keith Urban travelled to Bowen in Queensland where Nicole is currently filming Baz Luhrmann epic Australia and arranged a surprise fireworks display in her honour, which included a message of “Happy Birthday Nicole” set out on a ground-level grid.

And local florist Julie Gardiner described Nicole’s big day as a “once in a lifetime thing” for her too as she received orders from friends and family of the star: “I have spoken to Nicole’s mum, her aunty, and I got an order from Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes and the kids, and one from 20th Century Fox. I am only a small town florist - for this to happen its a once in a lifetime thing for me.”

In addition to the Bowen festivities on Nicole’s birthday itself last Wednesday, she was spotted having a birthday meal with family in Sydney the previous weekend.
