The Spice Girls have officially confirmed their reunion plans and announced plans for eleven shows around the world in December and January.
The five band members - Geri Halliwell, Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm and Emma Bunton - held a press conference in London this morning to confirm the previously rumoured plans.
Geri told reporters they made a group decision that it’s the right time for them to get back together: “I think for us it was about celebrating the past, enjoying each other and it’s about our fans. It was the right time.”
“For us it’s about celebrating the past, enjoying each other and it’s about our fans. It was kind of now or never.”
Mel C, who previously been against the reunion, admitted that she had changed her mind over the last few months: “A girl is allowed to change her mind and also this is something that we have only seriously started this year really.”
“I think really all of us have had our fears and doubts but we feel that the time is right.”
The group will begin their short tour in Victoria Beckham’s soon-to-be new home town Los Angeles on 7th December and play in Las Vegas and New York before travelling over the Atlantic for European shows, including a homecoming gig in London. The remaining five shows will see them cover China, Australia, South Africa and Argentina.
