Harry Potter stars vows to steer clear of partying celeb path
The teenage star of the Harry Potter series are adamant they won’t follow in the footsteps of their Hollywood contemporaries.
Speaking at a press conference this week to promote their new film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Daniel Radcliffe was keen to separate himself from the celebrity tag: “That’s someone who enjoys being famous for the parties and the glamour. The thing I love is the acting, the work. I don’t see myself as a celebrity.”
Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley in the films, said while he “absolutely did not” let his fame stop him enjoying his youth, he’s keen not to take it too far: “You get the sense the media want a story of kid stars who go off the rails. We’ve all been pretty set on not doing that.”
Co-star Emma Watson, aka Hermione Granger, added she feels the same way: “We’re careful not to do all that - alcohol and cigarettes - in the public eye

At least they have the right idea. “..in the public eye,” that’s wise. As for what Rupert said, he is absolutely right. People would do just about anything to catch a kid with anything like that and make sure it’s not easily dropped. It’s a harsh truth, to be honest I am not sure I could do it. I’m a writer and I know I will never be famous, for that I have a feeling of relief. Being in the public eye 24/7 is hard enough at any age, but it starting out as young as you three were would be just that much harder. My condolences for having to avoid certain situations unlike other people, But I also congratulate you on your views on celebrity-ism.
