Britney Spears‘ mum Lynne Spears is said to be “brokenhearted” over the recent rifts in her relationship with her daughter.

Britney is said to have stopped speaking to Lynne after she felt her mum forced her into rehab earlier in the year and this week is reported to have ordered Lynne to stay away from her sons Sean and Jayden.

A source claiming to be a family friend told People magazine: “[Lynne] has cried her heart out over the trouble between her and Britney.”

“She is brokenhearted. She wants her baby to be okay and to bring her grandkids home to Kentwood and raise them in a normal environment.”

The source reiterated that the problem was related to Britney’s stay at Promises Treatment Center in Malibu earlier this year: “I think Britney is angry that her family got involved in getting her into rehab.”

Britney still maintains that she was incorrectly pushed into treatment for drug and alcohol abuse after months of partying culminated in her shaving her head in February. She is said to acknowledge that she was having emotional problems - depression and anxiety - following the birth of younger son Jayden in September last year but insists there was no substance abuse.

According to TMZ, her claims have been backed up by the fact Promises didn’t carry out any drug/alcohol testing on her admission to the facility - the first tests came 15 days into her less-than-30-day stay.

A source told the website that Britney blames Lynne, estranged husband Kevin Federline and former manager Larry Rudolph for pushing her into the programme - she fired Larry after her completing the treatment but is reportedly caving to many of Kevin’s demands in order to keep their divorce and custody battle out of the public courts.
