Penélope Cruz reportedly delayed a transatlantic flight for two hours on Thursday night after she had a panic attack shortly before take-off.

Penélope is thought to have been travelling alone on the Newark-Barcelona flight and became agitated as the plane left the gate.

A fellow passenger told the Huffington Post the first class passenger “was freaking out and refused to fly”.

Airline staff then removed all the bags from the hold and left the luggage in the rain until they found those belonging to Penélope.

The Volver star’s spokesperson has denied a panic attack, explaining the delay due to the weather: “There was no panic attack. The airline let her know there was going to be a 3 or 4 hour delay due to the storm. She had work so she figured she’d deplane and fly when the storm passed.”
