Lionel Richie has said he isn’t bothered when he hears about daughter Nicole Richie’s partying antics in the media because he accepts that it’s normal for her to be doing stuff he disapproves of.

He told Fox News recently that if it wasn’t for modern technology, he’d be in the dark about it all: “She’s just in an unfortunate situation. There’s just so much information out there right now - MySpace, cell phones, the internet.”

“If we had all that when The Commodores were around [in the 1970s], God only knows what my mother and father would have seen.”

“[Nicole] keeps apologizing to me. I told her ‘You’re doing exactly what you’re supposed to be doing to your father at this age.’”
