00_beckhams_w_magazine.jpgVictoria Beckham believes her marriage to David Beckham became stronger than ever after he was rumoured to have had an affair with his former assistant.

Rebecca, now a reality TV star and glamour model, claims she and David had a four month affair while working for the footballer shortly after his move to Madrid in 2003. She sold the story of their relationship to the News of the World, including text messages of a sexual nature said to be from the star.

When asked about the rumours in a recent interview for W magazine, Victoria is said to have become visibly tense before saying: “I’m not going to lie. It was a really tough time. It was a hard time for our entire families.”

“David and I got through it together. No one said marriage was going to be easy. Yes there have been bumps along the road.”

“But the fact that is we’ve come out of everything stronger and happier.”

“It’s even better now than when we were first married. After all these years, we can just come home and have a laugh together.”

Victoria added that it’s the latter quality - her good sense of humour - that people most misjudge about her and she hopes her new documentary will start to change that: “I think people are really going to see me for the first time. I think they have this impression that I’m the miserable cow who doesn’t smile.”

“But I’m actually quite the opposite. I’m going to try and smile more for America.”
