Madonna & Guy Ritchie “dreading” visit from Malawian officials
Madonna and Guy Ritchie are reportedly “dreading” their upcoming interview with Malawian officials.
The couple are set to meet with a child welfare inspector from the country as part of their ongoing adoption of son David. The interview will take place at the family’s London home where David has lived since Madonna was granted temporary custody of the boy in October last year.
According to the Sun, the assessment will take place in the next few weeks and will include observation of the family for up to five hours a day, for up to five days, as well as direct questions asking them about their lifestyles (including use of alcohol) and relationship (including issues of infidelity and infertility).
A source told the newspaper: “This home study is a big deal - and Madonna and Guy have been absolutely dreading it. Malawi is a conservative country that disapproves of drugs, alcohol, divorce and cheating.”
“These assessments are very gruelling and many couples don’t pass.”
David’s adoption caused controversy last year as some organisations claims Madonna had paid to bypass certain regulations and around 50 civil rights groups formed a coalition to attempt to block it.
If the home study is deemed a success, Madonna is rumoured to be planning to adopt a second child, a baby girl, from the country.
