Pete Doherty reportedly checked into a rehab clinic on Sunday - but then checked straight back out again around five minutes later.

Pete, who has to complete a five-day detox over the next few weeks or face jail, was spotted arriving at then departing from the clinic in Harrogate on Sunday evening with a member of his management team.

However, his lawyer Sean Curran insists that the visit was not intended to be the start of his stay: “Pete has been in Harrogate over the weekend but he is not in the clinic. He is due at the clinic next Monday.”

Pete then returned to London where he was fined £100 for littering, after throwing rubbish out of the window of a mini cab yesterday. An onlooker told the Sun: “He looked pretty sheepish, like he was embarrassed to get done for such yobbish antics.”

“The policeman gave him a stern ticking-off, then issued him with the fine. It looked like he got a severe warning.”
