Kerry Katona is reportedly too scared to return to her home after being robbed at knifepoint at the weekend.

Kerry, husband Mark Croft and five month old daughhter Heidi were locked in a downstairs toilet by three knife-wielding, masked burglars on Sunday night. Despite a state-of-the-art security system with full CCTV coverage at the Wilmslow home, the gang walked into the property through an open door.

Kerry’s publicist Max Clifford said last night: “We think the men got in through a side door which wasn’t locked. Kerry and Mark didn’t have the alarm on because they were in - they were downstairs in the cinema.”

“It looks like the burglars thought no-one was in because there were no lights on upstairs and saw an opportunity.”

“Kerry is struggling to come to terms with what has happened. She is sedated and is thinking of going away for a while while Mark sorts out the security - she is still terrified of going back to the house at the moment.”

“This is bad enough for anybody but for her it was even worse because she has a real phobia about knives: when Kerry was a young girl she had to pull a knife out of her mother’s leg that her mother’s partner had stabbed her with.”

“As ridiculous as it sounds if it had been a gun it would not have been as frightening for Kerry.”

“She has been sobbing uncontrollably and shaking and is in a real state.”

The gang is said to have taken more than £150,000 worth of valuables, including a BMW, from the £1.5million home.
